GE Capital Real Estate manages over $12 bn of real estate in the region, predominantly being office assets (52%), residential assets (20%) and retail assets (10%).
Most of GE Capital Real Estate’s Asia Pacific assets are direct wholly owned equity investments in Japan, Australia and Korea. GE Capital Real Estate is also a structured finance lender on cash-flow generating properties, with in excess of $3 bn of loans held, predominantly in Japan.
Beside direct investments, GE Capital Real Estate has also invested in funds managed by Ascendas and Citic Capital covering investments in China and South-East Asia, and is a joint-venture partner in equity investments in Japan and Korea.
In addition to investing and managing real estate assets for its parent company, GE Capital Real Estate Asia Pacific has also begun to invest and manage real estate for third parties in line with the global investment management strategy. Recent transactions were completed for Korea National Pension Service (KNPS), St Martins Property Corporation and Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC).
