French regulated Real Estate Funds

The Real Estate Collective Investment Scheme (“OPCI” – mutual fund) is a non-listed real estate fund that operates according to similar rules to those of a UCITS Fund (Undertaking for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities).

According to Article L214-90 of France’s Monetary and Financial Code, the objective of OPCIs is investment in buildings, including:

  • Buildings in future state of completion, which they rent out or have built solely for the purpose of renting them out and which they hold directly or indirectly,
  • All activities necessary for their use or resale
  • The carrying out of works in those buildings (construction, restoration, renovation) in order to rent them out
  • The management of financial instruments and deposits.
In line with GE Capital Real Estate’s strategy to also develop a third-party management activity, GE REIM SAS has decided to create, promote and manage "OPCI RFA" (Real Estate Funds with Simplified Operating Rules) exclusively for institutionals or “qualified” investors.

The Full Prospectus for each OPCI has been approved by French regulator (“Autorité des Marchés Financiers” – AMF). The prospectus provides investors with the information they require to understand the management rules, how the OPCIs operate and the associated risks. It also describes the investment strategy particular to each investment vehicle.

Our Management Company – GE REIM SAS
Licensed as a Management Company by the French regulator AMF on January 6th, 2010 (*), the objective of GE REIM SAS is :

·       to create, promote and manage real estate funds set up in the form of "OPCI RFA" (Real Estate Funds with Simplified Operating Rules),

·       to provide investment advisory services,

·       to provide reception and transmission of orders ancillary services.

GE REIM capitalises on the real estate expertise GE has gained on the European real estate market over a period of more than 10 years.

 

(*) GE REIM has also taken over the Portfolio Management activities of GE Real Estate Management France SAS (which had been licensed on June 24th 2008).
